The New Moon Experience
Held at the South Towne Exposition Center in Sandy Utah, Thursday, November 19 and Friday, November 20, 2009.
A two-day premiere party event to celebrate "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" movie release. This event is sponsored by TwilightMOMS.com in cooperation with The Mitch Hansen Band presented by RLegacy Entertaiment.
The festivities begin on Thursday afternoon at 3:00 pm. Join in the group games, have a piece of Bella's birthday cake and primp for the party in Alice's Salon. Did your husband or boyfriend agree to tag along? We've got things to keep him busy, too. He can play video games in Emmet's Lounge, watch the game at Billy's Place.
If you're looking for more to do, walk through the towns found in the books and movies while browsing the wares of a variety of vendors with the most Twilight Saga related merchandise, all in one place. Thursday evening, The Mitch Hansen Band will tease guests with a short performance to get you ready for the concert that night at 8:00 pm. Doors will close that night at 10:30 pm to give you time to get to the Megaplex Theatres at Jordan Commons for a midnight show.
On Friday, the party starts early at 12:00 noon. Take in a New Moon matinee and come back because your pass is still valid for the second day. Get to all the games you missed the first night. Our vendors will still be here so take the opportunity to get your Christmas shopping done and get the perfect gift for yourself or another Twilight Saga fan in your life. You'll have all day to take in the sights. Doors will stay open until 11:00 pm that night.
Discounted admission will be offered until September 13, 2009, and special package pricing available. Concert attendees will receive a free copy of The Mitch Hansen Band's CD, Endless Day.
Volvo C30 Earns Top Safety Pick From IIHS
According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), crash tests demonstrate that occupant protection in all kinds of vehicles is improving. However, IIHS doesn't routinely test vehicles in every size/type category. Emphasizing vehicles for family use, the Institute usually crash tests 4-door models. To evaluate the extent to which automakers are extending crashworthiness improvements to 2-door cars, the Institute recently conducted front, side, and rear tests of 2009 coupes including the Chevrolet Cobalt, Ford Focus, Honda Civic, and Scion tC, all small models, plus the midsize Volvo C30.

2008 Young Alumni Scholarship 5K & Kids 1K (Fun) Run
The annual Young Alumni Scholarship 5K & Kids 1K (Fun) Run on the final day of Homecoming 2008, Saturday, September 27.
We had more than 450 race participants and countless cheering spectators. The event also included a bunch of door prizes, goodies to eat, games, The Volvo Ute 30 on display and just plain fun for the whole family!

Volvo VISTA Competition Names Local Winner
Jessey Letham, Ken Garff Volvo Downtown Service Shop Foreman, recently became a Vista Finalist Winner in the 2008 VISTA (Volvo International Service Training Award) competition. VISTA is an exciting competition, open for all Volvo dealerships, affiliates, parts, and service locations and satellite personnel. The competition consists of three elimination rounds of questions, followed by a final "hands-on" championship round in Arizona to determine winners.
The competition started out with over 3,000 technicians from across the United States. Out of those technicians, 900 qualified to participate in the semifinal round. Out of those 900, 72 went on to the finals and out of those, 21 became VISTA Finalist Winners. Jessey Letham was among these 21 finalist winners, 1 of 4 in the Western Region.
I am extremely excited for Jessey and all he has accomplished with this rigorous competition. He is an invaluable employee and serves as one of the best Shop Foreman I have had the privilege to work with. We are glad to have one of the top Volvo Technicians in the United States work for us here at Ken Garff Volvo Downtown.
Along with this Championship award, Jessey received a "Swedish Study" trip. This trip includes a round-trip ticket to the Volvo Factory in Gothenburg Sweden for an intense training program. He feels honored and excited to be able to participate in such a prestigious competition and study program.
Jessey has been a technician for over 9 years. He is married with three kids and enjoys spending time with them at their home in Herriman, UT. When Jessey is not at work, he enjoys spending time with his family, pulling apart computers, and gardening.
I would like to congratulate Jessey on this award and all of his accomplishments.
